Annotation:

Salinization of soils is one of the important indicators of their agroecological state. However, the nature and degree of salinity change in time and space at different hierarchical levels. This must be taken into account when assessing the maximum permissible salt concentrations for the soil-plant system. In connection with different laws of changes in the nature and degree of salinization of soils in time and space for individual regions, soils, rocks and landscape elements, the study of this issue is of undoubted interest. The article presents research data on saline soils of the foothill-coastal plains of Dagestan. It is shown that the nature and degree of salinization of soils naturally change for soils of the coastal, central and piedmont parts of the plain depending on the surface microrelief, seasonal dynamics, and soil profile. A regular change in the types of salinization from sulphate in the foothill plain to mixed (sulphate-chloride and chloride-sulphate) in the central plain and to chloride in the coastal plain has been established for the foothill-coastal plains of Dagestan. The composition of salts varies according to the microrelief elements. In all the studied soils, the content of Na, Cl, SO4, Mg is higher in the elevated areas of the microrelief. The concentration of salts in the soils naturally changed down the soil profile. For the soils of the central plain in the upper humus horizon, the type of salinization was sodium bicarbonate, and below 40cm sulfate of sodium-magnesium-calcium. Mathematical equations are proposed that describe changes in salinity down the soil profile. The seasonal dynamics of changes in the nature and degree of salinization of soils is shown.
